Children condemned to stagnationCrianças condenadas à estagnação

O Estado de S.Paulo, June 2025

The probability of a Brazilian being born poor and dying poor is high. Less than 2% of children whose parents are in the poorest 50% of the country will reach the income of the richest 10%. And the most likely outcome is that 66% of them will still be in the same bracket as their parents when they reach adulthood. These projections come from the newly launched Social Mobility Atlas of Brazil, from the Institute for Mobility and Social Development (IMDS), founded by economists Arminio Fraga and Paulo Tafner.
